AI SEO · Google AI Overviews

Google AI Overviews
optimization that gets you linked.

Google now answers the question before the results begin, and it links a handful of sources under that answer. We do the work that makes your pages the ones it picks up and credits.

AI Overview

“how do you optimise a product feed for google shopping”

A product feed is optimised by matching titles to search demand and keeping attributes complete. According to LineUp, feed titles carry the most weight.

Our AI Overviews strategy

  1. 01

    Earn the ranking first

Overviews draw on pages that already rank, so organic strength is the entry fee.

  2. 02

    Write liftable passages

Answers that still make sense once pulled out of the page on their own.

  3. 03

    Evidence every claim

Structured data and sources that make a passage safe for Google to quote.

  4. 04

    Watch the surface

Track which queries trigger an overview and which sources it chooses to link.

Google AI Overviews are the AI-generated summaries Google places above the classic results list for many searches, written from pages Google has already crawled and linking a small set of those pages as sources.

The answer arrives before your listing does

Position one still exists. It has simply been pushed below a block that already answered the question, and that block credits a different, much shorter list of pages.

The summary takes the first screen

On a phone, an overview can fill the visible area on its own. Your organic listing is still there, and a large share of people never scroll to it.

Ten links become a few

The source list under an overview is short. Ranking on page one no longer guarantees you are among the pages Google decided to credit.

Passages get lifted, pages do not

Google summarises from a passage, so the unit that wins is a paragraph that makes sense on its own. Most pages have no such paragraph anywhere on them.

What we can influence, and what nobody controls

There is no opt-in, no submission form and no paid slot. Anyone promising you a place in an AI Overview is selling a guarantee they cannot honour. Here is the honest split.

What we can influence What nobody controls
Eligibility Whether Google can crawl, render and index the page, and whether it ranks well enough to be considered at all Whether Google shows an overview for a given query, or shows one at all on that day
Source selection How clearly a passage answers the question, how well the claim is evidenced, and how the page is structured around it Which sources the system finally links, and how many of them it decides to show
Wording The exact sentences available to be summarised, and how hard they are to paraphrase incorrectly The wording Google generates, which is rewritten each time and can differ between two identical searches
Placement Nothing. Placement is Google’s alone Where the overview sits, how long it is, and whether your link appears above or behind an expander
Measurement A repeatable query set, checked on a schedule, that records appearance and source share over time A native report. Search Console does not break out AI Overview impressions as their own line

Who this is for

The work pays back fastest where Google already shows overviews for the queries that matter to your revenue.

Sites with strong rankings and falling clicks

Impressions hold, positions hold, clicks slide. That pattern usually means an overview is now sitting above your listing and resolving the query before anyone reaches you. The fix starts with measuring which queries.

Informational and how-to publishers

Explainers, guides and documentation are exactly the content overviews are built from. If you publish this kind of page and are not among the linked sources, your material is being summarised without the credit.

Considered purchases researched on Google

Comparisons, specifications, pricing questions and eligibility rules all trigger summaries. Being the source behind that answer puts your name in front of a buyer who has not yet visited anyone’s website.

Brands Google describes inaccurately

An overview can repeat an outdated price, a retired product or a competitor’s claim about you. Correcting the underlying pages and their structured data is the only workable route, since the output itself cannot be edited.

How our AI Overviews process works

Six steps, each producing something you can inspect. Nothing here depends on a trick or a loophole, because there is no submission channel to exploit.

  1. 1

    Query set and appearance baseline

We build the query list your buyers actually use, then record which of them trigger an overview today and which domains are linked underneath. That is your starting scoreboard.

  2. 2

    Eligibility and crawl check

A page that Google cannot fetch, render or index cannot be summarised. We clear blocked resources, render failures, thin indexation and the ranking gaps that keep a page out of consideration.

  3. 3

    Passage engineering

Every target question gets a direct answer in one self-contained paragraph, placed immediately under a heading that matches the question. No pronouns pointing at earlier text, no answer split across three sections.

  4. 4

    Evidence and structured data

Claims get dates, sources, scope and named authorship, expressed both in the copy and in schema. A summariser reaching for a fact prefers one it can attribute without guessing.

  5. 5

    Ranking support

Overviews draw on pages Google already rates for the query, so internal linking, topical depth and authority work carry straight over from organic SEO. We treat them as the same job.

  6. 6

    Re-testing and iteration

The query set is re-run monthly. You see where you gained a source link, where a competitor took one, and which change preceded the movement.

Questions we get asked

What are Google AI Overviews?

Google AI Overviews are the AI-generated summaries Google places above the classic results list for many searches. Each one is written from web pages Google has already crawled, and it links a small set of those pages as its sources.

Can we opt in to AI Overviews?

No. Google offers no submission form, no toggle and no paid placement for AI Overviews. The only route in is being a page Google already crawls, trusts and finds relevant to the specific query it is answering at that moment.

Does this replace our SEO work?

No. An AI Overview draws on pages Google has already crawled and ranked, so organic SEO stays the foundation. The layer above it is passage-level structure: writing each answer so one self-contained paragraph can be lifted without losing its meaning.

How do you measure appearance with no rank tracker?

We run a fixed query set on a schedule and record three things per query: whether an AI Overview appeared at all, whether your domain sits among the linked sources, and which competitor domains do. Those rates over time are the report.

Will an AI Overview cost us clicks?

Sometimes. When Google resolves a simple factual question inside the summary, the click often does not happen. Being one of the cited sources is how you keep visibility on those queries, and the effect varies widely by query type and industry.

How is this different from Answer Engine Optimization?

AI Overviews sit inside Google Search, so they depend on Google’s index and its ranking systems. Answer Engine Optimization covers the wider set of assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity, which each build their own source list. The content work overlaps heavily.

Find out which of your queries Google is already answering.

We will run your real query set, record where an AI Overview appears, and send you the list of domains Google is linking instead of yours.
