AI SEO · Entity Structuring
Entity structuring, so a machine knows exactly who you are.
Before an engine can recommend you, it has to work out which organisation your name refers to. Entity structuring settles that question once, then makes every source it checks tell the same story.
“Which LineUp do you mean?”
LineUp, digital marketing agency, lineup.agency. Distinct from organisations of a similar name in other sectors. Same description, founding details and service list on every record below.
Every place your identity gets confirmed, or contradicted

Our entity strategy
-
01
Say one thing everywhere
A single canonical description of the business, used on every profile that carries it.
-
02
Remove the ambiguity
Separate you cleanly from every similarly named company an engine might confuse you with.
-
03
Connect the records
Link your profiles so machines read them as one organisation rather than several.
-
04
Correct at the source
Fix the record where it is published instead of arguing with the output.
Entity structuring is the work of making a brand resolvable to one confident entity, by publishing a single canonical set of facts about who you are and making every profile, listing and reference that mentions you agree with it.
Engines resolve text to entities. Yours has to resolve to one.
A search or answer engine does not read your brand name as a string of characters. It tries to attach that string to a thing it already knows about, and everything that happens next depends on which thing it picks.
Resolution happens before ranking
If the engine attaches your name to the wrong organisation, no amount of content or authority work reaches the right one. The mistake is upstream of everything you are paying for.
Uncertainty reads as risk
When records disagree, a model has a choice between naming you and naming a company it is surer about. It tends to pick the safer option, and you never find out you were considered.
Agreement beats assertion
Saying something about yourself once carries little weight. The same fact repeated across independent sources is what raises confidence in a record and keeps it stable over time.
The symptoms are visible. The cause is in the record.
Most brands notice entity problems as odd behaviour in an AI answer or a search result. The behaviour is a symptom. The fix almost always lives somewhere in your identity footprint rather than in the page you were looking at.
| Symptom you see | What is actually wrong | What fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| You get confused with another company | Your name matches more than one organisation and neither record carries enough distinguishing detail to separate them. | Disambiguation: sector, founding details, location and named people stated consistently, plus identifiers that belong to you alone. |
| Your service list is out of date | An old description is still the most repeated version of you, so it keeps winning against the current one on your own site. | One canonical description rolled out everywhere at once, with the stale copies corrected at the source that publishes them. |
| You are missing from the shortlist | Nothing is wrong, exactly. There is simply not enough corroborated detail for an engine to be confident enough to name you. | A fuller entity footprint: relationships to services, people and locations, evidenced on sources other than your own. |
| You are described in the wrong market | Old addresses, a legacy trading region or a category chosen years ago on a profile nobody has opened since. | Address and market reconciliation across every listing, with retired locations closed properly rather than left dormant. |
| Your name appears in several forms | Legal name, trading name, an old brand and a punctuation variant all circulating at once, splitting one entity into several weak ones. | A named primary form with the variants declared as alternates, and profiles tied together so the signal consolidates. |
Who this is for
Entity work pays off fastest where identity is genuinely ambiguous, or where the public record has drifted away from what the business actually is today.
Brands with a shared or generic name
If a search for your name returns a software company, a gym and a band before it returns you, an engine faces the same problem your customers do. The answer is not a louder brand voice. It is a record that separates you from everything else wearing the same word.
Companies that changed shape
Rebrands, mergers, a new legal entity, a dropped service line or an office move all leave a trail of records that still describe the previous version of you. The old facts keep circulating until somebody goes and corrects them where they were published.
Businesses with years of old profiles
Directory listings created by a former agency, a founder’s personal profile standing in for the company, a review page nobody claimed. Each one is a small vote for a slightly different set of facts, and together they are why no version of you looks authoritative.
Teams already investing in AI visibility
If you are running Answer Engine Optimization or shipping Schema & Structured Data without fixing identity first, you are asking engines to trust claims about a company they cannot pin down. Entity work is the layer that makes the rest land.
How our entity structuring process works
Six steps, run in order, because each one depends on the decisions made in the last. Every step leaves behind something you can inspect and reuse.
-
1
Entity resolution audit
We find every public record that refers to your business and check what each one claims. That includes the profiles you forgot you had, the ones created on your behalf and the organisations you are currently being mistaken for.
-
2
Canonical fact set
We agree one version of the truth with you: legal and trading name, the description you want repeated, founding details, locations, services and the people who represent the business. Everything after this step references that document.
-
3
Identity layer on your own site
Your site becomes the authoritative source. We state the canonical facts in structured data, publish an about page that matches it word for word, and link out to the profiles that belong to you using sameAs references.
-
4
Profile reconciliation
We work through the listings, business profiles, professional networks and industry directories in your footprint, claiming what is unclaimed and correcting what is wrong so every record repeats the same facts in the same form.
-
5
Corroboration and evidence
Independent confirmation is what turns a claim into a fact an engine will rely on. We identify where your details should appear in coverage, partner pages, association records and public data, and make the case for each with evidence rather than assertion.
-
6
Monitoring and correction
Records drift. New listings appear, aggregators republish old data and platforms redesign their fields. We re-check the footprint on a schedule and correct what has slipped before it spreads back into the answers people see.
What you actually receive
Documents and records your team keeps and can maintain without us. If you brief a new agency next year, this is the pack you hand them.

Questions we get asked
What is entity structuring?
Entity structuring is the work of making a brand resolvable to one confident entity. It means agreeing a single canonical set of facts about who you are, what you do and where you operate, then making every profile, listing and reference that mentions you state the same thing.
How is this different from schema markup?
Schema is the format used to state facts on your own site. Schema & structured data tells an engine what your pages assert. Entity structuring is the wider job of making those assertions consistent and corroborated everywhere else as well, across profiles, directories and coverage you do not own.
Can you get us a Knowledge Panel?
Nobody can promise one. A panel appears when Google is confident enough about an entity to summarise it, and that confidence is earned through consistent, corroborated records rather than bought. We can build the evidence base and submit corrections where a submission route exists.
Can you edit Wikidata or Google’s Knowledge Graph for us?
We do not control either. Wikidata is community edited and rejects promotional records, and the Knowledge Graph is derived, not directly editable. What we can do is correct the sources they draw on, use official feedback and claim routes, and evidence facts properly.
AI keeps confusing us with another company. Can that be fixed?
Usually, yes. Confusion happens when two organisations share a name and neither record carries enough distinguishing detail. We add the distinguishing facts, such as founding details, location, sector and named people, and tie your profiles together so one entity is clearly the stronger match.
How long does entity work take to show up?
Records you control can be corrected in the first few weeks. Third-party profiles move at the speed of each platform’s review queue, and derived sources such as knowledge bases refresh on their own schedule. Expect visible change over months, not days.
Find out who the machines think you are.
We will map your public entity footprint, show you where the records disagree, and tell you which conflicts are costing you the most. No commitment either way.
